What Is Midland Known For?

Midland was originally founded as the midway point between Fort Worth and El Paso on the Texas Pacific Railroad. Its location as the midway station was the reason for its original name — Midway, but due to other towns with the same name located nearby, its name was eventually changed to Midland. It was also the home of former Presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush, as well as former First Lady Barbara Bush.
